Ok so I realised..Hurrr....im connected to the internet now (I wasn't before), why not just go run the hotfix straight from the download?

So I went to the site, downloaded it, ran it, it asked to unzip the files to somewhere, the default location was C, I clicked ok and since nothing has happened, is that all I needed to do?

In command prompt (don't think it has to be evelated):

    c:\windows\System32\Sysprep\Sysprep.exe

After shutdown, restart pc. Watch carefully for any errors and strange things!

The hotfix installed fine, but made no visible changes as the error starting up was already gone due to the registry changes you suggested.

I tried to run sysprep, but now it says "there was a fatal error [while trying to run sysprep]". It did this when I first tried, but it was because windows media center network services was enabled so I stopped that and it worked fine. This time it doesnt work and that service isnt running.
