Windows Live Essentials is driving me up the wall! >:(

I'm not sure where to start, but I've just about had it with Windows Live Essentials. I've tried just about everything I can think of, but try as I might, every time I try to install WLE I get error 0x80070643, saying "It looks like another program is preventing the installer from working." The source of the error keeps changing, but it is always something to do with WLE, (UXPlatformCore, SOXE, etc.). It's been like this for months, but since the update was optional I never bothered looking into it. Once the update became mandatory, I had a problem. I've googled this error extensively, and tried just about every workaround I could find, all to no avail. I'm hoping someone here can help me diagnose this issue, as I'm all out of ideas.

I'm running Windows 7 x64 SP1, Windows Firewall is enabled, and I'm running the latest version of MSE. I'll provide any more info when asked for it, I can't think what else is relevant at the minute.

Any help is appreciated, this has been bugging me for weeks.

    Thanks,
    Tom.

PS - Sorry if this post is a little badly worded, I'm fairly tired, and this problem is starting to annoy me a little. :P

Yes, I have already tried that. I've tried both methods, neither worked.

Haha, great advice. Sadly, none of the solutions provided in that thread have worked for me. :/

Well, it's quite out of character for me, but I gave up and re-installed Windows. Sorry to anyone else with this issue who finds this page via a search engine or something, no solutions here!

I too have exactly the same problems with Windows Live Essentials and I have gone round in circles trying to sort it.
    I keep getting different errors

This is especially tedious for me since I have difficulty focussing for anything more than short periods and I am now at a loss what to do...

I am no techy, so any solution needs to be presented in an 'idiot-proof' format.

    Please help somebody!
