How do I change the look of the applications in Windows 7

    Hi experts!
I'm not sure if it's possible, but still would like to ask. The same version of the software (winrar) is installed on both, my XP and Win 7 computers. The look (menus etc) is completely different. Here are the screen shots:

    Win XP

    Win 7

As you can see the version is exactly the same. What do I have to do to make the application in Windows 7 have the same look like in XP?
    Thanks in advance

Because XPs GUI is totally different then Windows 7 ( aero etc. ) You can use a program such as Tuneup Utilities or Windowblinds for XP.

Why would you want 7 to look like xp ?

You could try changing the theme in W7 to the windows classic theme. Right click the desktop and click personalize.

Luna theme turns 7 into XP

To run it you need to download one of these patchers to allow 7 to use 3rd party themes. I don't know if Luna turns every installer box like in your screenshot, but when I used it it seemed to replicate XP really well. I don't use it any more because I don't give a crap about XP. But that's just me.

    -------------edit----------

I don't know if you're taking any kind of performance hit with this theme, I never used it extensively.

Wouldn't the Windows Basic theme give you the Windows XP look to your applications?
Right click desk top: Select: Personalize
In the section: Basic and High Contrast Themes select Classic

Try putting it in XP compatibility mode. Many programs change their UI based on what OS they're running and luring it into XP may disable some useless eye candy. Of course, the aero style will be present everywhere unless you completely disable it system-wide.
