Now I have windows 7 ultimate x64 and I love it, but I would like to
use either rocketdock or objectdock .. but while browsing around in the forum
it feels like I get mixed messages ...
Does any of them work in win 7 x64 edition ?

Personally I use rocket dock. It works great with x64.
Everyone is going to have a bias opinion, its more or less going to come up to you trying both out and seeing which one you like more XD
Rocketdock works for me on my Win 7 x64 Ultimate installation, with one minor oddity. Twice in the last month Rocketdock has hung up during shutdown. No big deal really, just a small annoyance.

I use rocket dock works great for me with no issues so far.
I actually prefer rocket dock over other docks because it functions better for general use. Object has some features I like but it just isn't as good for average every day use for me. Though object makes a great dock for cramming all your game icons on if you just want an out of the way yet easily accessible place for game icons.
i use rocket dock too and works fine on win7 rc x64
