does Windows 7 really need a codec pack? It comes with XVid and divx codecs and they cover a wide range of files already?

That's a good question, I was having no issues but I installed it anyway, maybe I should have just left it until I found something that didn't work first.

it depends what you are looking for...

this is more of a extension of the codecs vista has.... (just the essentials)

with klite (well it depends which one you download) you get lots of other stuff like gspot and other tools....(like i said depending on which version you use)

on a side note there is a klite x64 beta codecs avaible though...

I just use ffdshow with some extra sharpening and media player classic!. ffdshow is set to load only with mpc anyway , who needs codecs windows 7 can have no xvid/divx codecs for all i care muahaha

remember this is the windows for the regular users....

remember??...

have post processing and queue output samples on mine with extra PS 1 on the side...

Best Codec Pack for Windows 7
I need everyones suggestions for the best codec pack for Windows 7. I have 64bit. I was thinking of getting shark007's but I have no clue, I've been lazy and not got it yet. what you all think?

So the aim is to play mkv files with WMP. I know all about vlc, used it on XP. Checking into some of the codec packs available. I am aware of the Shark pack, but unless I'm mistaken I would need to install the 7 pack and the x64 ontop of it. So I stumble accrost this cccp-project.net, seriously...

K-Lite has x64 and x86 codec packs. Should I use both of 64 and 32 bit packs together rather than only 64bit? K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 32 bit K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit or Which package would you prefer?
