    Go to action centre
    click on maintanance
    Look for reliability report
click on red warning bullet and review the error report.
    Looks like an Appcrash.

Haven't tried this yet, due to the fact that I never thought a codec will fix Explorer crashing. :P

updates for sharemediacpl.dll are contained within the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable
Here are download links to the latest v9.0.30729.4048 - compile date: july 24, 2009
I could not find direct links to these files at Microsoft so I uploaded them to mediafire for you.

    x86 download from mediafire

x64 download from mediafire (this one is installed by my x64 codecpack)

Dude!! I really appreciate the effort man. Just Installed it now. Tried quickly, Explorer still crashes.

Haven't rebooted yet though. GF is busy watching Anime on LCD TV behind me, don't want to reboot in the middle, she just might kill me. Hahaha.

Will reboot after this ep. then report back.

    **Reporting back:

Still doing the same thing. Anyhow.. thanks once again for effort Shark007!!

    Media Stream

    WaRn00b said:
    Hi guys and Gals,

I've been really happy with Win7 thus far, except for the only thing that isn't currently working.

Media Streaming via Media Player 12.

Every single time I click OK, regardless of settings, it crashes explorer.

    Anyone else encountererd this problem?
Ok, I've gone back to your original post.
As we say in PC support: "Whats changed?" meaning what are you trying to initiate.????
Answer: You are trying to stream a media file?
What media are you trying to stream? And where are you trying to stream it to? A device such as another pc, a dvr?
As I've reviewed the steps to allow media player to stream media you have to either stream it within a local network, or stream your media over the internet. See the attached screen as to what steps I had to initiate.

    Stream_Setup

Ok, here is the first step on setting my pc to start streaming.
Windows Media is asking me how I want to stream, on a network or by internet. Here I just defaulted to local network.
