Canon Canoscan LiDE 100 software not working on Windows 7 x64

    Hello,

I have a computer with Windows 7 x64 installed and a Canoscan LiDE 100 from Canon, which has drivers dated from 2008 that work fine. The scan works without a problem.

However, the actual Canon software doesn't seem to work with it. Here is the link to it:
    Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : CanoScan LiDE100

    The software is:
MP Navigator Ex and Solution Menu.

    I downloaded the Windows 7 x64 version.

The problem is that, whenever I start MP Navigator, Windows just tells me that it stopped working. I already tried compatibility mode with Windows XP SP3 and Administrator rights.

Am I missing something? Am I the only one with this problem too?

    Thank you

No, you are not the only one. I have a Canon LIDE 30 and that does not work with Windows 7 x64 either. The alternative is to either use VueScan software or buy a newer scanner (the printer/scanner all in one devices are cheaper than dedicated scanners).

Interesting. I have the CanoScan LiDE25 working very well under Win 7 x64.
    It's definitely an older model.

    There are two components needed:
    1. The twain driver
    2. The CanoScan software

Here is my scanner detail at that site:
    Canon U.S.A. : Support & Drivers : CanoScan LiDE25

Going by the model number, mine seems to be of the same family but I wonder why the Software is different for your model.

I'm going to try the Toolbox software for that scanner (LiDE 25). Who knows, it might work. Unfortunately, I only have access to the computer Monday so it will have to wait till then.

I don't understand how software from a company like Canon would not work on a popular OS though, everything else seems to be fine.

As a last resort I can install another program but I wanted to install the Canon one because it seems easy to use (this is not for me, but for another person's computer) and apparently it converts directly to PDF.

I'm sorry for the delay. I still haven't been able to get access to the computer and scanner. It's been a busy week

If all goes well I will be able to see if this works tomorrow afternoon and I'll let you know how it went.

Sorry for the double post, but its new information, so I can notify people.

I tried the software from the other model (LiDE 25) and it didn't work with the scanner (LiDE 100).

I did managed to sort it out by downloading PDFill which gives me tons of PDF and scanning related tools. Pretty nifty

Originally I was looking for the official Canon software so I could scan and convert directly to PDF but PDFill does it pretty well.

PDFill then used the Canon Scangear interface to scan things.

Alernatively you can always use Gimp (and possibly other image programs like paint.net and possibly even microsoft office?) to scan things with a good interface.

Thank you for the help and I hope I helped a bit as well :)
