    7-Zip 9.17 beta installer flaky

7-Zip 9.17 beta installer seems a bit weird. On my Vista64 PC, it deleted my previous restore points. Also it complained it was in use by Explorer. Seems to have trouble with context menu and file associations that I didn't notice on previous installs. On my Windows Seven 32 bit PC, it wanted to reboot just to set zip file association. I tried going back to the previous beta but it didn't like it.

I reverted to 4.65 stable version on both machines.

I just installed beta 9.17 maybe an hour ago...it was smooth. No problems that you mentioned. Did you download it from there site, or?

I downloaded directly from Source forge. I got 2 weird reactions on 2 different machines. Hardly seems like it should be on my end. Besides, I don't see anything earth shaking in the beta that's not in the stable.

Also I don't fathom why a file compressor would have to reboot the system after an install. It doesn't use a device driver. The whole thing is bizarre.
