How to keep Speedfan temps in systray?

Hi I only get Speedfan CPU temp in my systray if I open the program. I set the configuration to show CPU temp in tray, Options to minimize on close which keeps the temp after I close the Speedfan control panel. But the p.c. will not startup with temps in tray and not show them until I open Speedfan, even if I check "start minimized" (just puts little fan icon in tray til I open it) or "static icon" (ditto). Am I missing an option?

SpeedFan needs to be in your startup folder.

You can also cause it start from a registry entry, but let's use the startup folder.

I pulled out my 10-year-old 24/7 Pentium 4 heatsink to blow out the dust and replaced it without re-pasting since the paste was still moist (not wanting to push my luck with old mobo). Temp is staying around 106 avg which seems low enough to leave it the way it is?

Dragged the .exe into startup folder, and sure enough it started up on desktop but then got box: Warning - Unable to save to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\Startup\speedfanparams.cfg

Does anyone recommend Motherboard Monitor for this use?

Hello. Place a shortcut to SpeedFan in the Startup folder.

Return the SpeedFan exe to it's rightful place. Create the shortcut. drag it to startup.

Unlees Speedfan has changed, it won't run without permissons.

If this is still the case, then you can create a task for it.

    Follow the pics.

That should do the trick. I use The addgadget CPU & Temp that runs with speedfan.

I did not check permissions, but I am currently running without UAC. Starts fine on my machine. Will check with UAC enabled.

Speedfan won't start with shortcut, but Motherboard Monitor shortcut in the Start Menu>All Programs startup folder did it. It's a better program that allows setting alarms, heat shutdown etc. which this old mobo bios won't do. am running win 7 as administrator with user acct on first notch. thanks.

I am not certain why gregrocker's SpeedFan works so differently from mine. SpeedFan starts just fine with a shortcut in my startup folder.

    Does it start in systray??

If this is the case than permissions are fixed. But like I said, if he's having an issue, a task will fix that for sure.
