Did you say Drive Image?? The software? or another like Acronis??

You need a recovery cd. Is your image on external drive? Can your Laptop see usb connections? If so than you boot with recovery disk and you will be able to go to usb drive and revover image. I don't know if your laptop like mine needs drivers for the drive.

That is, if we are talking Acronis.

Maybe you should clear that up a bit please.

You could try the built in system image utility.

Right click on your C drive. Properties, Tools, click on backup. In the upper left, indicate that you want to create a "system image". This can backup to your external hard drive as long as it's attached.

To restore, simply boot off your Windows 7 install media, choose repair, and pick restore from a system image. It should find it automatically on your external drive as long as it's attached.

    Pretty simple and works well.

No, it does not create an ISO file.

Instead, it creates a folder called WindowsImageBackup on the device. Inside of that folder would be a subfolder for the machine being imaged. Inside of that folder are subfolders containing catalogs, .vhd files and other XML files.
