    Windows Live Mail Questions

Much as I dislike Windows Live Mail (WLM) I'm trying to set it up as an alternative to Windows Mail (WM) - just in case WM screws up.

    I have some questions.

I have 9 email accounts and the reason I prefer WM to WLM is that all accounts go into a common inbox, whereas WLM sets up folders for each and every one, cumbersome to say the least.

Question 1: On opening WLM I see that it has set up my default email account automatically.
When I go to import the other 8 account settings it says that they already exist. I don't see them. I can set them up manually however.
Why that error? I noticed that WLM always gave that error in Vista for some reason, another reason for me to dislike it intensely.

Question 2: Is it possible to setup a message rule that will move all the mail for the other 8 accounts into my default email inbox?

Looks like you can make a rule to move mail from an account to a specific folder, but it won't let me make that the Inbox in my main account. Has to go into Junk mail or Sent items. Not much help for me. This is the same thing I don't like about Live mail. I only have 3 accounts, but I want them to all be in one set of folders.

Don't know about the accounts thing. I always skip the setup and go to accounts to import the accounts.

Thanks Gary. Weird that it says the account already exists when I try to add the rest, yet they aren't listed. It did the same thing when I tried it in Vista, so obviously there's a bug. I did report it ages ago but obviously it's a low priority.

I have a question. I remember in vista whenever I had the email popup message or clicked a link related to email it would open WLM. Now If I click links it takes me to the hotmail page which defeats the purpose of WLM. How do I fix this so that whenever I click something associated with email it opens WLM.

Open Live Mail/Tools/Options. At the bottom of the general tab are buttons to make Live Mail the default Mail and News handler. Click on one or both and you should be good to go.

Odd. Try Control Panel/All items/Default programs/Set your default programs. Click on Live Mail and then 'Set this progam as default.

If that doesn't work, then click the back button once or click on Default programs in the address bar and choose 'Associate a file type or protocol with a program'. Scroll down to .eml and click the 'Change Program' button. Select Live Mail. Click OK and close.

    Hope this helps.

    Someone please help!
My spell checker in WLM 2011 does not have a British spelling dictionary. I am fed up of seeing words like "colour" underlined as misspelled. Also when I write e-mails in Greek it does not recognise the spelling.
Is it not bad enough that we have to put up with this HORRID RIBBON interface, while having to cope with the lack of a spell checker of our choice?
    PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!
