    Please, as not to misunderstand.

Desktop and shutdown reg tweaks do what thay say they do. They don't speedup the system but rather the delay commands that Windows takes to react to open a file or shutdown the system.

Some other tweaks that I inserted in my Tweak file.

NoLowDiskSpaceChecks = Low Disk Notification deactivated

LinkResolveIgnoreLinkInfo = Determines whether Windows traces shortcuts back to their sources when it cannot find the target on the user's system.

NoResolveSearch = Prevents the system from conducting a comprehensive search of the target drive to resolve a shortcut.

NoResolveTrack = Prevents the system from using NTFS tracking features to resolve a shortcut.

NoInternetOpenWith = Specifies whether to use the Microsoft Web service for finding an application to open a file with an unhandled file association.

AutoEndTasks = Specifies whether user processes end automatically when the user either logs off or shuts down Windows

HungAppTimeout = Specifies how long the system waits for user processes to end after the user clicks the End Task command button in Task Manager

MenuShowDelay = Specifies the interval from the time the cursor is pointed at a menu until the menu items are displayed

WaitToKillAppTimeout = Specifies how long the system waits for user processes to end after the user attempts to log off or to shut down Windows. When the time specified in this entry expires, the End Task dialog box appears, stating that the process did not respond.
If the value of AutoEndTasks is 1, the system ends the process automatically.

LowLevelHooksTimeout = This tweak changes the time to wait to kill a service, which is not responding

WaitToKillServiceTimeout = Determines how long the system waits for services to stop after notifying the service that the system is shutting down.

@Zardoc - it is all good, it is all wood. Teak, in this case.

I did not mean to address your tweaks as invalid or poorly targeted. I use many of the same or similar settings. I was simply including the text to dissuade casual observers from seeking tweaks for the wrong reason.

    You give good post.

Antman, I did not think that at all.

My reply was just to clarify that some might misinterpret into thinking that reg tweaks make a computer go faster.

Thanks for the heads up though.

It is a shame that we have to beat this dead horse. So many reg tweakers, and individual tweaks, are marketed as "make your PC faster."

Centralized management is another matter. In XP, I once used three different apps to get all my tweaks in place. Finally, I simply read about or examined what the tweak actually did and how it was done.

I did pay for TweakVI when Vista rolled out. Am I the only one here who got screwed on the license? That company is one step above fish crap. They are the scum that develops on fish crap. IMO.
