In my local research institution, few days ago, I've successfully tested / installed complete Adobe CS4 Master Collection Suite on Windows 7 RTM Build 7600 x64 Edition without any problem. I've tested Adobe Photoshop CS4 x64 Edition, Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Fireworks CS4 and Adobe Flash CS4. All products ran so smoothly and I've not so far experienced any trouble with any product.
Hi Maxman, windows 7 RTM build 7600 we knew worked since the beginning. Before my test, the only question was why doesn't it work on build 7100 RC, and was the problem the build, or Flash CS4 instelf. 7600 worked all along, it's 7100 I was testing. However it turned out that it was not the windows 7 build that was the problem at all as the more experienced members of this forum suggested.
After further research on my part, I figured out it was actually an adobe problem, and that the build 7100 RC performed admirably, as much as the RTM 7600 build in face value anyway. If you install the master collection, there will be no problems.
       Information

You'll be surprised to hear that I've also successfully tested the entire suite on Build 7100 RC as well and never found any trouble while using any application therein...

    Hi there
I'm afraid I'll have to challenge your assertion that you've got a 64 bit version of flash working.

    Here's a REALLY SIMPLE test

Logon to the BBC's home page with IE8 64 bit.

    (BBC - Homepage)

You won't be able to get the digital clock flash app working. (should appear at the top left of the BBC screen). No clock in the 64 bit version of IE8.

Now look at IE8 (32 bit version) ist screenshot. Flash app (digital clock) works fine.

    Enc 2 screenshots

Note it's quite a different thing to say that an application WILL execute to saying that all the components within it function correctly.

My BIGGEST complaint with modern IT systems is that nobody ever seems to TEST stuff properly -- just starting an app doesn't mean it works correctly.

So please "screenshot" a GENUINE 64 bit flash application WORKING (not a 32 bit one) so you can enjoy making me eat a bit of "Humble Pie".

I use 64 bit CS4 (Photoshop) daily and its fine - but AFAIK Adobe STILL haven't released 64 bit Flash yet.

    Cheers

Noone talked about 64bit flash -- only 64bit photoshop and and 64bit windows - just read again
Don't confuse Flash with the Flash Plugin - which exist untill now only for Linux in a 64bit Version btw

Ok here's an update. I did not upgrade to 7600, I am still using 7100 RC.

The problem after all had nothing to do with the build of Windows 7 x64 that I was using. It was Flash CS4. After reinstalling it, it still didn't work. So since I didn't have a copy of 7600 to try, I went and got Adobe CS4 Master Collection. Since that was the other difference between myself and Reaper.

That did the trick. My original copy of Flash CS4 stand alone would not run, but after installing it from the Master Collection, it works like a charm. There are obviously some differences between THOSE builds. It wasn't windows 7 causing the issue at all.
Strange, stand alone of Flash CS4 gives problems, regardless of Win 7 x64 build, but not when installing CS4 Master?
    Who would have thought??
    Today I learned something new

Wanted to chime in and bump this - I'm running the release of 7 x64, with Flash CS4. Latest update, and legitimate copies of both.

Flash designer is UNUSABLE. Every... single... click takes 5 full seconds to register, clicking twice anywhere brings up a "Not Responding" error. I've checked for latest patches, I'm running an Nvidia 8600GTX with latest drivers. 4GB RAM, Core 2 Quad cpu. Every other application is running full speed in the meantime.

EDIT: it was Kaspersky Internet Security 10. FRIGGIN KASPERSKY that made me lose 4 days of production while I troubleshot my fresh, clean installation of basic office & design software to death. After hours of this (and not that I didn't try to DISABLE Kaspersky but I guess that wasn't enough), only uninstalling it altogether brought everything back to speed.

Ridiculous that something I actually paid for would gimp my PC, and instead I'm now using Microsoft's free antivirus in its place (despite having over a year left on my license). So, so very annoyed.

Oh my god man! You are my hero! You realy are! After losing many days and nights trying to fix this problem you came with the solution!
I don't know why i don't feel mad about the money i spent on KIS licence... actualy i feel very happy because ia can work instead of wait in Flash CS4. It's fast now and i have to thank you for that! So THANK YOU! my friend! THANK YOU! I say it with all my heart!

This issue about KIS and windos 7 x64 should be sticky! It also has a bad influence on AcdSee and i think on search to!

Thank you again and thank you all for the great infos i found here!

    Have a nice day!

    L.E.:

I have found a fix! Or at least i think so! On the kaspersky lab site is an update that, at least for me, fixed the problem!

    http://www.kaspersky.com/kis_latest_versions

Now i have KIS and flas is working fine after the restart.

I don't know, however, how to make kis process to start earlier... now is the klast that starts.

    Flash difficulties

I have all the necessary computer requirements to run flash. In either the Windows 7 (64) or Windows 7 (32) I get dismal performance. This is after trying every compatability mode.
The pencil tool only draws a line after release.
    The tool drop downs are slow or unresponsive;
The import video/sound etc doesen't usually work. ie Browse thru a file of mp3's and not see them.
When I use the bone tool in the authoring environment the parts to be moved lag and lag .
I read a fix on how to get the pencil up and running which worked . The writer suggested a person go to "personalize" and then go to Basic and high contrast themes and select Windows Classic.
To be honest with you I think I am about done with PC
