Cool, needed something to replace EaseUS, as it was getting a bit too bloated mess in the latest versions.
Their partition manager is cool and free as well.

Just curious. Does the cloning feature support Windows 8 as well? The reason I ask is when I tried to clone a copy of Windows 8 onto a new SSD using the migration feature in Aomei Partition Assistant Pro, it finished the job just fine, but afterward I couldn't boot the OS up.

    Is that uefi?

If you had both drives online, windows will have changed the disk id of one of them.

Might be you need to reconfigure something - perhaps bcd entry.

    I don't know with efi/gpt

It is quite straightforward with bios/mbr

No, it is bios/mbr. The Aomei Migration Tool works great with Windows 7, but not with 8. It could be that my copy of Aomei Partition Assistant Pro is outdated. I have made a Backuper WinPE CD and will give the cloning feature a try on my Windows 8 installation. I was just wondering if by any chance you had tried it.

If you clone to new HD - you will need to correct the bcd stores afterwards.

Backuper should correct the your existing one. If you then have both HD online - there will two identical Disk id so windows will change one of them

BCD entry depends on the Disk Id , so will need to be corrected.

Easy to do with startup repair.

I am only guessing that was the problem.

I don't know how you did the cloning - partition or disk - used or all sectors, or what the error message was when you tried to boot from the newly cloned HD.

I cloned the entire disk with Windows 8 installed on it. And if I remember correctly, its been a few weeks since I tried it, there was no error message, when I tried to boot into 8. It got as far as the Windows 8 logo and stopped. I am going to try it today with Backuper and see if that makes a difference.
