Sometimes a reboot is necessary because:
    1. The update may require that a process be stopped before the update can install. As long as Windows is running the process can't be stopped.
    2. The update may be updating a driver which may also need to be stopped.
    3. The update may make a registry change. The registry requires a restart for the change to take effect.

    Still having problems installing programs.
Such as: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)

    Why is this happening!?

EDIT: The error in the Text log is giving me this:
    Code:
Action: Performing actions on all Items
Action: Performing Action on MSI at c:\40e2e6a6cdaff184c3\vc_red.msi
Returning IDOK. INSTALLMESSAGE_ERROR [The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2203. ]
MSI (c:\40e2e6a6cdaff184c3\vc_red.msi) Installation failed. Msi Log: Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable Setup_20130103_200923920-MSI_vc_red.msi.txt
PerformOperation returned 1603 (translates to HRESULT = 0x80070643)

    Action complete

OnFailureBehavior for this item is to Rollback.

    Hi CosmicPoptart,

You may want to take a glance at the following:
    - System Requirements for Skype: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA1...-running-skype
    - System Requirements for Snagit: TechSmith | Snagit, screen capture software, system requirements

As suggested by 'Kaktussoft', try re-installing the 'Microsoft .NET 4' and check if that works. If you still experience issues during the install, try the following 'Microsoft Fixit': Installing updates for the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 can take longer than expected in some scenarios

If you experience issues even after the install, try the 'Fixit Repair Tool': Download: .NET Framework Repair Tool - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

Alternatively, you may also want to try the steps mentioned in this 'web article': How to repair an existing installation of the.NET Framework

Hope this information helps. Do reply with the findings; would be glad to assist.

I just now figured out why everything wasn't installing correctly. That was because installations were not given access to my %temp% folder. By following this tutorial, now everything installs fine.
You receive an "Internal Error 2203" or "Internal Error 2381" error message when you try to install Office 2000 SR-1a

Even thought the method is for Office 2000, it still applies to everything else.
