Windows 7: Finding installed software

Finding installed software

I'm completely new to Windows 7, having used old XP until last week. And I have problems finding stuff.

When I download and install new software, with their installation wizard, the installation process most often just ends without any error or other message. No icons are created. The software is not found in the start menu, nor under "All programs" nor under Program Files or Prgram files (x86), nor under the Control Panel "programs and features", nor by searching in the File Manager (which btw seems to always give hundreds of unrelated hits).

What's going on?
How can I get in touch with what I install in Windows 7 Ultimate N 64bits?

It should be in "all programs".

Just go to the start orb at bottom left, click it and then hover your cursor over "all programs" just above the orb. Wait a few moments and it should appear with all your stuff. Scroll down the list to find what you want, right click the program and create a shortcut or just open something.

If the programs are not there then something is going amiss.

Thanks for your answer!
I didn't know about the hoovering stuff. But it gives the same effect as clicking. And the installed software isn't listed there. Not all anyway. My Samsung printer driver UI whatever is listed there, for example, but not Eclipse. And I am running Eclipse now!

I tried twice to install the ADK (Android development kit) which includes Eclipse, with the problem I've described here, unable to find any of that software. It also happened with some sound driver and something else. Then I downloaded only Eclipse and it was polite enough to show a dialog when finished, asking me if I want to run it now. And I do see its folder under C:/ Maybe it's the installers fault.

But indeed, Eclipse is definitely installed, but not visible under Start menu.

If it is a 64bit program it will install under "Program Files" not "Program Files (x86)" but should still appear in the all programs list.
