    Problem Installing MS .NET Framework ?

    Hi,

    Trying to install MS .Net version 4 on desktop PC.
    Running the 64 bit version of W7.

    Get the following error msg.:

    .NET Framework 4 has not been installed because:
    HRESULT 0xc8000247

    Anyone perhaps know what is going on ?

    Thanks,
    Bob

    Two things you can try;

    1. Go to "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET" there is a directory called "assembly".
    In the directory there may be some subdirectories with lots of old dot net 4 files. Rename the directory assembly2 and try to install Dot Net 4.
    (You can't delete the assembly directory unless you take ownership of it but you can rename it.)

    2. Download the standalone installer;
    Download Microsoft .NET Framework 4 (Standalone Installer) from Official Microsoft Download Center
    (Before running the above; Clear out your %temp% directory and disable your AV software)

    Are you referring to Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8?

    How far along is Windows 7 64-bit in your computer up-to-date?

    hi,

    Netframework 3.5.1 should have been on your install media. w7 or W7 service pack 1.

    please open control panel, select programs and features, in this window in top left corner, select turn features on or off, a smaller window will appear, tick the netframework box - if its not present then your install is corrupt.

    You have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit installed, but without Service Pack 1(SP1) or any updates?
