Windows 7 + Visual Studio (Any Version) Makes AIM not usable.

I have had the same thing happen. After installing Visual Studio 6 i noticed that my aim would not work, so what i did was try the most recent edition of visual studio which is visual studio 08. After installation was complete my aim just wouldnt work again not even after uninstalling the visual studio so i had to reformat and go back to clean version to get my aim back. i have narrowed it down i think after installing visual basic 6 i noticed that it has to be the visual c++ that is making the aim error out. the aim will load and work still after you sign on and the buddy list pops up. I also noticed after installing that it takes the "Software Licening" Serivce in serve manager. Can someone please help me with this problem because i want to use visual studio and aim. One thing i have noticed is that you can run Pidgin chat client. The visual studio doesnt mess with it. /

    Solution

Hi Guys, After a lot of research, and having this problem show up on multiple Windows 7 machines, I found that AIM is conflicting with the Debugger in Windows 7 (or Visual Studio).

You can solve this problem, by renaming the following file:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\VS7DEBUG\pdm.dll

Once you rename the file, AIM should work as expected. The only issue I ran into, was trying to use the debugger in Visual Studio started causing some problems. Guess its a toss up, which one do you use more?
