MS Narrator
Can anyone tell me what good Narrator is? Is seems to be a completely uncontrollable voice output of whatever the user does. So indiscriminate it is that it is completely useless.

Seems obvious you have no visually impaired persons in your near vicinity, among family and friends. What next? Would you like to suggest visually impaired people should not use computer? Let's take all Ease of Access tools away from the next version of Windows, it should be forbidden for disabled people to use computers .
I know some nearly blind people, and they are grateful the Narrator exists. Although there are better programs available, Narrator does what it is supposed to do as a free, native Windows feature.

That has to be the most misguided reply I've seen in quite some time. I examined Narrator precisely because my eyes have been very fatigued lately, and with a view toward a close friend that has serious vision problems. I think any unbiased reader will understand that my criticisms were directed toward the software itself, not the need for such a program.
If that's the case I of course apologize.
I have been helping a friend of a friend who is gradually losing his eyesight to set up a Windows PC. In this process I have found some for me totally new elements and tools and have found a new angle and perspective regarding disabled user's ways to get around.
I repeat: I am really sorry for misunderstanding you.
