I have problem regarding utorrent download speed

I have a proxy internet at my hostel which do not allow torrent downloads using any client directly.
So i downloaded a software called SpotFlux which creates a VPN and the torrent download started :)

But now i do not understand then when i download a video or anything using Internet Download Manager the usual speed i get is 1-2 Mbps

Not when i use utorrent the download speed is very less (<100kbps)
Note : even for good health torrents

Is it something that can be enhanced or it will remain < 100kbps always.
does anyone have any ideas here.

The connection speed could be slowing over the vpn that spotflux creates, or it could be the fact that the hostle throttles your speed when a long download session is in progress.

When your using utorrent, you will be making the internet speed really slow for all the other hostel tennants.
Hence why its blocked by default.

yeah but i still use internet download manager to download a lot of stuffs continuously and the downloading speed overall comes is more than 2Mbps and this is not only on mine but all the 200 laptops in the hostel that are in the good range of the router.
Every laptop gets approx 1Mbps speed as the internet is 8Mbps

Now as i unlocked the torrents using VPN i wonder what are the reasons why i dont get the same speed.
    What VPN actually does?
and if there is any way i can get a good speed.

The "VPN" is probebly just directing you through a proxy server to get your torrent. (this is probebly where the loss of speed comes in)

If 200 laptops all received 1MB each, then that would be a 200MB connection not 8mb?.

You do know that, If you download, Your making it hell for the other 199 guest.
