No keyboard or mouse in windows 7

I have an ASUS laptop running Windows 7 64 big home premium. a few days ago I brought it out of sleep mode and when the page came up for my password I had no touch pad or keyboard control. I have tried restarting. I tried using a USB keyboard. I also tried Safe mode and I've got nothing. I turned it off with the power button since I had no other choice. When it comes up with "Windows did not properly shut down" screen i can use my keyboard to select options, however, after the screen I've got nothing. My login screen comes up like normal. I even have a flashing cursor in the password box yet my touch pad and keyboard do nothing. Also I cannot get into to BIOS. Can someone please help me?

I can't use the on screen because I have now mouse, or in my case touch pad, control either. Therefore I have no way to select it.

On the keyboard, Press and hold FN key, then press the F9 Key, (whilst holding down the FN )

    Does the touchpad now work?

I saw where you mentioned testing with an external keyboard - I did not see where you had tested using an external mouse.

Used an external mouse and it worked. I got into the laptop using the on screen keyboard. I looked in Device Manager and both the touch pad and keyboard displayed errors. The keyboard said "code 19" and the touchpad said "code 10" both drivers are up to date.

I just saw this thread and I'm having the same problem, win7 64 bit....same keyboard and touchpad errors. (code 19/code 10 Registry issues... due to windows updates). I did a system restore to a couple weeks ago and all is working again. Did updates and keyboard and mouse are not working....urghhh. Currently doing another restore Damn me for not looking at the updates prior to....has anyone been able to figure out which update is causing this problem?

Still have nothing. I've tried everything Microsoft suggests. I really need it fixed for school.
