    Help on Error Bad Image

C:\windows\systems32\d3d10_1.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your systems administrator or software vendor

I have noticed significant slow down on the performance of the computer. I haven't installed or downloaded anything in the past 24 hours, I can't recall beyond that unfortunately. I just did a Windows Update I believe on Monday. Any ideas on what could be causing this issue?

    Hi Rosco,

Please can you add your systems specs to your profile? Here's how:

its not a BSOD, its a DWM - Bad Image error stating this file

C:\windows\systems32\d3d10_1.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your systems administrator or software vendor…

If I am in the wrong forum or what not then please refer me to the correct forum.

I have done chkdsk /f /r but that didn't fix the issue.

I have noticed it affects the windows Aero function, and seems to move slower then it should be. This message pops up when I log onto my account.

Hi and oops!!!! Sorry my bad

    Please run SFC:

Click on the Start > Type in search cmd
Right click cmd at top and Run as Administrator
Type: SFC /scannow at the prompt

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Also download ccleaner (top right for download):

    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds

Once run click on Registry, then Scan for issues tab, once run, click "fix selected issues".

    Click No, and fix all.

    Reboot

    Let me know any results

    cheers

I ran the sfc /scannow twice and did the CCleaner, still have the bad image error when I log onto my account.

    Hi,

I think it is related to Microsoft-Windows-DirectX-Direct3D, you may have to update your Direct X to latest version.

I have asked another member for some assistance on this matter.

    Hi,

If not please attempt to restore the computer back to a time before the problem began:

Start > All programs > Accessories > System tools

    choose system restore.

Thanks for your help, I did windows update, downloaded DirectX and still nothing is fixing this issue. I'm not sure what else to do. Restore doesn't have anything beyond today of course so naturally this isn't going to be an option for me.
