    Adobe Reader 11.0.2 Error 0:104

Hi, I updated Adobe Reader to the latest version (11.0.2) and all of a sudden I can't view pdf files in browser anymore (firefox & IE), an error comes up saying:

'THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH ADOBE READER/ACROBAT. IF IT IS RUNNING, PLEASE EXIT & TRY AGAIN (0:104)'

I can open pdf's saved on my computer but not view them in browser. It's an annoying problem especially because I removed Reader using the Adobe Cleaner tool and re-installed, still same issue.

    Please can somebody help?

    Thanks!

Not a complete solution, but for Chrome go to the plugins page chrome://plugins/ and disable Adobe reader and enable the built in Chrome PDF reader.

I was meant to write 'IE' sorry for that but yeah I don't use that FF is my main browser, the built in pdf reader on FF is pathetic so for now I have to download and save every pdf I need to view.

Do you think this is an issue on Adobe's side (worked fine before update) or an issue on my machine?

Same problem occurred with me. I installed Adobe 11.0.2, & suddenly I couldn't view pdf files anymore, neither the ones saved in my system, nor the ones I wanted to browse on internet. In the end, I had to reinstall Adobe 9, & now everything's working properly. I still can't understand why Adobe 11 wasn't working. It is an update, which means it should be better, but in my case, it was worse.

    Two things to try

Reset the Display PDF In Browser preference

In Reader or Acrobat, right-click the document window, and select Page Display Preferences.

From the list at left, select Internet.

Deselect Display PDF In Browser, and then click OK.

Choose Edit > Preferences > Internet, select Display PDF In Browser, and then click OK.

Try to open the PDF again from the website.

    Or

Acrobat Help | Display PDF in browser | Acrobat, Reader XI

Let us know if any help. A Guy

Sorry to dig this thread out, but I had the same issue and kinda solved it. I had this problem with Adobe Reader 11 and Adobe Reader DC, while trying to open online pdfs with internet explorer.

1st step - On Adobe Reader executable, go to Properties -> Compatibility tab -> Check "Run as Admin" (last box) - after this step, the error 0:104 disappeared and now the 0:53 appeared.
2nd step - Right-click on IE and choose to "Run as Admin" - after this step, 0:53 disappeared and it worked like wonders.

After this, so to not be always right-clicking on IE, I had to change the UAC level to a lower level.
Or instead, just use firefox for example, and don't touch the UAC, this also worked for me.
    Didn't try on chrome.
