Hi,

Any ideas to resolve this problem.
does it have to be sql 2005?
sql 2008 works fine. (dont use sql2008 express though, I've had issues with it)
yes i have only vs 2005 developer edition and i dont have 2008
SQLserver 2005 SP2 has been required since Vista. Not certified with Win7.
Please see: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...SQL.90%29.aspx
Are you using the SQLserver2005 with SP2 to attempt the install. If not then it WILL fail.

Hi Jack,
I am facing issues installing sql2005 enterprise edition on my new windows 7 enterprise edition laptop. When the installer runs, there are 2 messages - one -
Some components of this edition of SQL Server are not supported on this operating system. For details, see 'Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2005' in Microsoft SQL Server Books Online
two -
64-bit ASP.Net is Registered. Required 32-bit ASP.Net to install Microsoft Reporting Services 2005(32-bit).
I read somewhere in the forum that the latest 64 bit sql native client needs to be installed, i did that, but that doesnt sort out the issue. also, on the components screen, the checkboxes for all components are greyed out.
you mentioned you have installed sql2005 successfully on ur windows 7 machine - any advise on how the above mentioned issue can be resolved will be appreciated.
thanks
