If you want to save, alter & then view the saved PDF document, you then need a reader

The program I have been very happy with is Nitro Reader (and creator), free: The Only Free PDF Reader and Creator | Nitro PDF Reader. It's a little slower than FoxIt, but I like the UI quite a bit better.

I use Foxit. Very happy with it other than the fact that it can't display 3D pdf's.

Foxit reader is far more capable and faster that Adobe. Version 6 was released yesterday which even has PDF creation facilities.
