Did you install or uninstall Adobe which failed or started the problem then? If so try to System Restore to a point before this occurred, or to your oldest restore point.

If that fails run SFC /SCANNOW Command, report back results.

thanks for you help; I tried both with no success. I still get an 'installer does not initialize 'or a 'bootstrap error' and then an installer odes not initialize. On Googling problem it looks like there may be some leftover from an install at some point in the past. I use Revo mostly. I have tried most solutions available via Google but non have worked. The adobe installer has been replace/upgraded.. I have used the adobe clean tool no success.

The problem could be inferior Factory Preinstalled Win7 with all of the bloatware and duplicate utiltiies which have better versions built into Win7. These throttle Win7 from its native performance and can cause problems.

That's why most tech enthusiasts will not run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything is provided in the blue link tutorial.

At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

If this doesn't resolve performance problems, work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.
