Bye Bye NERO - Don't need your Bloat anymore

Hi all
another old favorite's time has come
Up to Rel 6 this was a GREAT program -even R7 was tolerable but now so much BLOAT and it doesn't even have the ISO virtual Image mounter any more.

Anyway It's now Binned.

(Note to any budding developers -- NERO will become a CLASSIC in future of a perfect example of how to RUIN a very good product which at the time was the clear market leader).

Keep to the core functionality and avoid HUGE "FEATUREITUS".

For burning ISO's the built in W7 burning program is excellent otherwise there's great FREE / cheap alternatives.

The W7 program doesn't give "Calibration Errors" and burns (and verifies) where Nero just gives up.

Ultra iSO is also a good one -- but loads of others and they have a Virtual ISO mounter too.

I traded in Nero for Ultra ISO a couple of years ago. I do like Nero Vision for a down and dirty, but still useful, video editor.

ultimate 64 sp1

i ditched nero a while back also - but as Antman said, nero vision was/is pretty good for making custom dvds, and had a half decent (if somewhat flakey) menu editor too...

i tried a few freebie alternatives - i liked cdburnerxp for a while, but then it started bugging me, and i just couldn't stand imgburn, so i had to spend some money on ashampoo burning studio 9, which does pretty much all i want - but i do still miss nero vision...sigh..

Windows 7 Professional x64

IMGBurn and CDBurnerXP Pro are now my burning softwares of choice. I never should have purchased Nero. Now I combine those two with the built-in functionality of Windows 7, and wow.

Virtual PC - Differencing disk bloat
Hi, I've installed Windows XP mode on Win7 x64, loaded the VM, run all the Windows Updates on it, which bloated the vhd file to over 3GB. I then merged the Windows XP Mode and Windows XP Mode Base vhds to create a new parent disk. I then created a new differencing disk based on the new...
Nero 10 and Nero Media Home
I am considering upgrading from Nero 8 to Nero 10. However, I am not sure that I need any functionality that I don't have with Nero 8 Ultimate... The one possible exception is Nero Media Home 4... However, in reading it briefly, it doesn't seem like it does a whole lot that isn't available...
System Image Bloat
Hello, I recently installed Windows 7 on a new machine. It has an SSD and an HDD. The original installation was on the SSD. Using the threads on this site, I moved the user directory and the ProgramData to the HDD. In addition, I created "program files" and "program files (x86)" directories...

Context menu bloat
Are there more people that hate the Windows Explorer context menu bloat after you've installed a few programs like WinRAR and NOD32? You can disable the program specific menu items most of the times, but the menu is huge anyway: I removed the NOD32 items...
