User account duplicate on Desktop, won't be deleted!

My user account shows up on desktop, except it's not the same name as my original user account. As far as I can tell, it has the exact same files as my user account. It looks like this:

It can not be renamed, not in this or safe mode, nor can it be deleted in either mode. Restore does not make any changes at this point. I have deleted all my restore points cause elsewhere it was suggested this could be malware and I had run couple programs trying to get rid of it and then trying to clean my computer but no help. This is very annoying because when I delete something in my user account, for instance in my download folder, it gets deleted but if I click system restore, it's back again!! At least that's how it was before I deleted all my restore points and I have not tried anything again but have a feeling same thing.

What do I see when I look into Computer/C:/Users? I see a plain looking folder named Roger (that's my user account and one that contains the same files as that duplicate "computer" one that shows up on desktop). This folder has a little lock icon at the bottom of it. I also see Public, and finally, Updateuser. So three folders. None have that user account icon on them, the little person thing. If I go to user accounts and family safety/user accounts, I see this:

So I don't know if that's the same as Roger, my user account, or if that's a different account. All this is confusing, I never created another account. I'm the admin on this computer and Roger account was the only one I was using. can you help me, I'm out of ideas?

Hello Rogman and welcome to Seven Forums.

Click on "Manage another account" in the window from your last screen print and see what accounts are displayed.
Post a screen print showing what accounts are displayed.

In Explorer (File explorer) double click on the C:\Users folder to open that folder.
Post a screen print showing what folders are in C:\Users.

Did you ever do a rename of your account?
Renaming an account does not change the the User folder name for that account.

In your screen print it looks like you are logged in with the account name "computer", but you say your account is named "Roger".
When you startup Windows, does it display a screen of Users you can select to login with?

If you never created (or renamed to) an account name of "computer", you may need security experts to help with this.
Or, you may want to do a clean re-install of Windows?

Thanks David for your reply. As far as "manage another account" I only have computer which is password protected and admin account and another one called guest and it says "guest account is off" The second one, I don't have explorer or file explorer, but I do have windows explorer when I type in "explorer"; in search box. Anyhow, so when I click that, I get the following:

So I don't know how to click on C:/users because as you see above I don't see that. Also I never renamed my account, may have happened by accident, but don't recall doing that. It was Roger or Rogers Computer pretty much for beginning. As far as startup window, I'm only offered one choice and it's the admin account but it's under the name "computer", unfortunately.

As I said before, the only place my name shows up normal and good, like it used to, is in here:

You're 2nd screen print shows the C:\Users folder in Explorer which is what I wanted to see.
Often "Explorer" gets confused with "Internet Explorer", so I referred to it as "File Explorer" to try and avoid that confusion.
It seems like your "Roger" account got renamed to "computer" somehow, and the User folder is still named "Roger".

Do NOT delete the "computer" account.
If that account gets deleted it will cause more problems than you have now.

You can try to rename the "computer" account back to "Roger" using the built in "Administrator" account.
You will need to enable the "Administrator" account, reboot, and login with the "Administrator".
When you are logged in as "Administrator", see if you can rename the "computer" account to "Roger" (using "Manage another account").
Here is a tutorial for enabling the Administrator account (use Option TWO).
Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable

Let us know if you can rename your account that way.

Did you try this, and did it help fix your issue?
