Excel causes CPU usage to go up to 100%

I have a rather large Excel file (around 100 MB) and it is very slow when I make changes to it or save it. The task manager shows that my CPU usage is upwards toward 100%. It says that "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources".

Your system specs look fine, you should be good on resources...

That is quite a large excel file. What version of office are you using? Have you tried a detect and repair on the excel file? You can do this by opening excel, and choose file open. Then click the file once to select it. Click the drop down arrow next to open and choose detect and repair. This will typically fix most issues with a a file made in office without losing your data. How long have you had this issue? When did it start?
