Looking For good optimizing/antivirus software, for all windows OS's

I believe in freeware and portable applications, being me running from place to place, fixing computers with nothing but a flash with well above 100 apps, a Windows LivePE, and an external to back up data if needed. I know many useful tools already in windows that can speed up your computer, and to fix quick problems. Lately, as some of my apps become a bit outdated, i've been looking for new apps that may have not been recommended to me for Optimization, any helpfull apps would be appreciated :)

also, it doesn't have to be only about optimization, if there's any apps you frequently use, then tell me :)

Just remember, free and portable :)

--edit, some antivirus i dont know about would be nice :)

Windows doesn't require third-party 'optimization' programs, Windows 7 is much more effective at managing system resources than previous operating systems. The thread which has already been posted is the best and safest option.

No probs mate another handy tool is Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 if you get into difficulties I see it says 6 passes in the memtest but I think it is usually 8 minimum unless you get errors straight away:)

What im more looking for-- sorry i wasnt clear -- is some good software that removes unwanted programs, data, things taking up space, etc. I have a few main programs I use but just seeing if i can find some extra programs to use. Plus, anyone know any good antivirus where you can choose witch drive to scan, (thats also portable)?
