[uTorrent] Slow upload speed and low number of peers.

In the past, I do have upload speeds of 400 kB/s to 1.0 mB/s for popular torrents.
But now, my upload speeds is either nil or just a few kB/s.

I checked the peers I have for the torrents, most of my torrents have an oddly low number of peers now, either 0 or just 2-3. Is this weird ? Even for the popular torrents such as Ubuntu, I only have 1 active peer, which is part of the reason why my upload speed is so slow ?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi there

As I'm sure you know the download speed is affected by the number of people seeding that particular torrent at that particular time, however I would imagine that as long as you have completely downloaded that torrent, then your upload speeds should be independent and not related to the amount of people seeding/downloading that torrent.

This may be a stupid question, but is it safe to presume that you haven't changed any settings (utorrent or otherwise) between now and when your speeds were 1.0 mb/s?

One other possibility would be that your ISP has decided to limit the upload (and maybe the download) speed of P2P connections?? - just thinking of all the possibilities here :)

BTW +1000 for seeding :thumbs up:

Nope I haven't touched any of the settings ever since the first time

I guess it is simply just that there are no peers which are downloading the torrents which I am seeding haha.

haha then yes, I think then that thats a safe bet :) I believe that under the info tab of your torrent that you're uploading, the Availability bar should be mostly green to achieve maximum speeds and the number at the end of that bar should be as close to 1 as possible (100%?)... but again that would be in the ideal world

In my experience u/l speeds increase as the number of seed peers decrease. I would double-check that your u/l bandwidth is set to 'unlimited'.
