Is Java Run Time Environment different than Java in a browser?

Hi, is the Java Runtime environment related to the Java that runs in a browser?

If I download and install Java Runtime will I still be able to disable javascript in a browser?

Is it even safe to have Java Runtime on your PC as I am aware that java has a lot of vulnerabilities when it comes to browsers.

The reason I ask is because I need Java Runtime to use DirSyncPro, but given its reputation I'm a bit hesitant.

    thanks.

JRE is the Java that runs in your browsers. If DirSyncPro does not run in any browser, you can just disable Java in your browsers.

How do I disable Java in my web browser?

The major similarity between Java and Javascript is the name. For practical purposes they are completely different.
