    Can not installing bwping

i would like to install bwping. but i do not know how. it is a program for testing lan speed. when i open the file and click on "install" i receive a pop up asking me to pick a program to open it with. when i pick a program i receive another pop up saying "wrong command. i asked the developer which program to use he responded with this,
'bwping package does not contain any programs, just sources. So you should install Cygwin, developer tools for Cygwin (gcc, header files, etc), build bwping from sources and only then you can use it." when i go to "Cygwin" and read about it i am lost because i am not as technical as i would like to me i do not understand what i am reading. could someone please break this down so that a lay persion will understand it. i tried to find other lan speed test but they all involve installing the same program on the other devices on the network, PS3 and Network streamers and they do not allow me to install other programs in them.

That program itself is sophisticated (for a first timer), and meant for Linux system administrators.

I have a Linux Ubuntu 10.10 version of this program. It works from a Ubuntu 10.10 Live CD too.
Let me know if you want it.

I would like to take you up on the offer but, like you said it would probably be to advanced for me. You may know of an alternative to what I want to do. I have tried looking for a program that can test my network speed between my computer and router (Netgear WNR2000v2) and my DLNA devices(PS3, Boxee BOX, ANDWDTV LIVE HD). The only programs I have found require that I install the program on both my computer and each DLNA device but, none of the devices will allow me to do that. I was think perhaps something that might ping from computer and the devices lan ip address and then populate the answers in Kbps. I don't know if such an animal exist. Maybe you do. Thanks

    Here you go lartomar2002.
I have just compiled bwping for windows (x86) too. I have tested it in XP and 7 (x86).
There is a working example file in attachment. You can change values in it as you need them.
Remember to Run it AS ADMINISTRATOR.

You won`t get anything if you just start bwping.exe, because you need to start it with command-line arguments.

Command-line arguments are specified in readme file.

To save you time I have created the file example.bat
If you run example.bat as Administrator it will start bwping.exe with command-line argument that I have defined in that bat file for you. Change values in example.bat as you need them.

Thank you very much bwping is working perfectly. I am not familiar with with copy right laws but, if it was ok with oleg you should post this as a sticky.
