Adobe Reader will not function or even install

    Hi,

I'm having a heck of a time trying to figure out why Adobe Reader doesn't work on my computer. In programs, it is listed, but for some reason does not seem to be installed. When I click the program, a box opens stating:

Please wait while Windows configures Adobe Reader 10.1.7..( as if installing)
.then I get this box popup:

error 1311: Source file not found: c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Reader 10.0\Setup
    Files\(AC76BA86-7AD7-FFFF-7B44-AA0000000001)\Data1.cab

--then asks me to verify it exists, close it, and try again.

I don't even knolw how to find this source file to verify it exists. I tried putting it in my browser but got a message stating Windows does not recognize this. Does the file include all of what the error 1311 states or is it part of it (e.g. do I need to search for the AC7...and all...in my browser?

I also saw there was a new version, tried to download that, but it, too did not work. I'm trying to use a program that evidently requires Adobe Reader, but can't continue my work because of this problem.

Any help would be MOST appreciated! Thank you,

    Lisa

Lisa288, I suggest that you look at programs installed in control panel and if anything resembles adobe reader, uninstall it.
also, make sure that you delete the adobe directory in your programs folders.

that works as long as you don't have other adobe products installed.

You can see if Adobe reader is listed in Programs and features, and choose to change/repair it
