    Daysease printing problem

    I have been using Daysease calendar program for a long time but have recently developed a printing problem. When I try to print, Iget a notice saying "could not start a print job". This occured after I replaced my USB printer with anf HP all-in=one wireless printer. When I first tried printing from Daysease I didn't change the printer options and tried to print to the USB printer that was no longer connected. and I got the message. When I tried printing again, I changed printers but got the same message. I've tried uninstalling daysease and reinstalling and that didn't work. I'm hoping to get some suggestions.

    Are you able to print to the new printer at all, or is it only an issue with the Daysease? If you go to Devices and Printers, is there a green check mark on the new wireless printer (denotes default printer))

    Start> In search box type Devices and printers> Enter

    If you hover your cursor over the default printer, does it show the status of mine (0 jobs in queue and printer status of ready)?

    If it shows jobs in queue, follow the instructions in this tutorial to stop, and restart the Print Spooler service (note deleting files in the printer folder, Option Two)

    Print Spooler Queue - Clear and Reset

    I'll stop there and see what your replies to these questions are

    Thanks for the reply. I'll answer your questions in order;
    1. The printer works fine for all other printing
    2. The printer display shows that the printer is the default printer
    3. There are no jobs in queue

    Thanks for the info. I found this, see if the name of the new printer is longer then 32 characters

    What is the name of your printer as shown in Control Panel | Printers and Faxes? If that name is longer than 32 characters, try renaming the printer so that the new name is 32 characters or less in length, then see if DaysEase can print again.

    As I recall, this is a side-effect of both the age of the program and the way certain internal Windows functions operate, which itself is a consequence of retaining compatibility for older (i.e., 16-bit) Windows applications. Some of those functions do not support printer names that are longer than 32 characters. The problem is that when DaysEase tries to print, the Windows function it uses to create the print job truncates the printer name to 32 characters. Net result: "Unable to start Print Job" because of the truncated printer name. On most systems, shortening the desired printer's name to 32 characters or less works around the problem.
