DirectX problems how to uninstall and then re-install?

Hi forum, a little new but i figured posting the problem myself instead of looking for people with similar problems might be the way to go, im playing a online game which i use a bot that does things for me in the game when im not able to be there to do them myself, upon leaving my computer running all night and leaving the bot doing its thing, i recently got an error, and its due to DirectX missing some files, which causes problems with games, so my friends tell me i need to uninstall and re-install, looking it up on Google there's alot of ways but all different versions of directX not the one im sure i have (which im not really sure, i just know my graphics card and assume its the one i have after checking graphics card info on Google) my graphics card is the ATI Radeon HD 4200, and threw Google learned that it means my direct X is 10.01, with that being said, can someone shed some light on how i can safely uninstall, then re install DirectX which is suppose to fix this error problem that occurs time to time?

thanks for your time, highly appreciated

DirectX cannot be "uninstalled" from Windows, it is integrated (part of) into Windows 7. If you are having issues I suggest you try updating the files by going here:

Web installer: Download DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer from Official Microsoft Download Center (checks system and installs files needed, including DX9 files)

Redistributable: Download DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010) from Official Microsoft Download Center (the entire package)

And you might check out this post - steps 4-6: Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues

If you are still having issue and you somehow tried to uninstall DX, you might have to do a Repair Install

well i recently went from Dx11 to Dx9 because i heard from a friend who was having the same problem that its suppose to fix this error that im having, also the game i play doesnt really require Dx11 because its just a simple type of game, but if i remember the error correctly, it said that dll. was missing, though, im not sure, i hope i can actually get that error again over time, and have alittle more information to provide to you so you can tell me exactly what the problem is in the future, because i like to stay up to date and using Dx9 makes me feel like im missing out when theres a higher Dx available. but for the time being if the issue re occurs ill be quick to provide you with further details, thanks alot.

Sorry but your friend is wrong; you can not remove DX11 from Windows 7. Also DX11 is backwards compatible, meaning it will play DX8, 9, & 10 games, as well as 11.

That said, in order to get a game to run in DX11 mode you need 3 requirements that are DX11 capable - OS, game, video card. If any of those items are not DX11 capable, the game will run in the lowest DX mode available between the 3 requirements. So, for example, having Win 7 (DX11), and having a DX11 capable video care, BUT the game is only a DX9 game.... the game will run in DX9 only... not DX11.

I've already linked this info for you to look at, and also provided some DX update links.

    Good luck.
