You want to make a recovery usb disk.... with software to restore and the backup image as well.. correct?
We were talking about recovery with macrium reflect from WINPE!
If the main harddisk is faulty or has been replaced you must be able to restore as well.

See it uses WINPE... not the full blown win7 installation.

Note:
To integrate with Windows PE you must have purchased Macrium Reflect and

installed v2.1.2525 (or later) of the Windows PE rescue CD .

I think this is why its not working right for me, I only have the free version

You can make your own easily enough.

Perhaps you should try Aomei backuuper. That will make winpe media for you, it has a lot of extra features as well. It is the best freebie.

You only need the 20mb version.

interesting little program but I do not think it will do what I am looking for. I want to make a USB recovery Drive that once its plugged in and booted to it will restore the PC with very little or no user intervention at all. thanks

The problem with scripting is the WinPE would have to support it. Here's a page showing how to incorporate VBScript support:
droppeDPackets VBScript in WinPE

But it usually is not try once and everything works doing that kind of stuff in my experience. A Linux boot would likely have Perl or Python support. But then you have the secure boot issue. Looks like you need some kind of macro utility that will run straight off WinPE. That's assuming all machines are set up the same so the program can just click the buttons in order.

It's quite simple: Include a Custom Script in a Windows PE Image
