I need a good Index.Dat file viewer and instructions

I need to view some Index.Dat files. Sadly everytime I find a free viewer it either comes with malware or unclear instructions so I can't get it to work. Can anyone post the link to a quality free viewer with instructions?

Are these index.dat files associated with Internet Explorer?
If so, which version of IE is creating the dat files?

Welcome to Seven Forums MouseFollower, have a look here, used this in the past. The installer comes up clean.

www.stevengould.org - Index Dat Spy Home

    https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/d...fa41/analysis/

This one does not need to be installed, also clean

    index.dat Viewer Free Download

    https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/3...4961/analysis/

    This one as well

Download Index.dat Analyzer - MajorGeeks (Choose to download at MajorGeeks, the original sites domain has expired)

Instructions, again, the link on this page will not work

Yes, it is to view Internet Explorer files.
I think it is the latest IE
Maybe that is the reason why none of the Index.Dat viewers work, because it is creating no Index.Dat files.

I tried the Viewers you listed, none of them worked. I think it is because of UsernamesIssues's idea that it is not Index.Dat files. I will try the WebcacheV01.dat

Ahhh, yes, they switched things up in IE10, perhaps some help in the thread UsernamesIssues linked.

This says it works for IE10, trusted source

ESEDatabaseView - View/Open ESE Database Files (Jet Blue / .edb files)

It's not just clear text though.
