Maybe it's a stupid question, but is there a good site like softpedia that keeps track of stable software versions and emails it to you? Yes, I use softpedia, it's good, but for a lot of software they also track beta/alpha versions and there's no way to opt-out of these notifications (also they told me they are not planning to implement such feature). Like, sheesh, three emails of utorrent beta update per week. Maybe a good free version tracker program for Windows?

I think something like filehippos update checker which checks your pc on startup for updates might suit you. Just download it and install it, program checks what programs need updates or checks to see if there's is betas available. Use this myself on my machine.

    Suggestion

I don't know of anything that does exactly what you ask. Instead of relying on email notifications for updates you could check out KC Softwares SUMO

It comes bundled with unwanted "Relevant Knowledge" software so if you're going to download it choose the LITE version.

It can be configured to check every program on your machine for available updates and can be set to ignore beta releases.

The downside is that there's no automatic update software feature so it's down to the user to identify the correct download link and update method. However on the plus side it does keep track of a huge list of software - more than pretty much any other update checker.
