    Problem with KNCTR software

My neighbour asked me to have a look at why her machine was running slow and well of course it is thoroughly cluttered low on RAM and had four different AV's on it etc etc the latest being Norton which she has paid for and wants to keep.

There are several softwares on the machine that are causing problems most of which I probably can find but there is one pop up that I cannot pin down in Programs and Features nor can I find any publishers or registry entries for it - KNCTR - seems to be some sort of phone call service.

Anyone know of this pest please as a Google came up with just delete it from the systems tray where of course it isn't mentioned. Suffice to say that her grandchildren have been playing on this machine and heaven knows what they have downloaded as I suspect I have only found the tip of the iceberg.

I have a bit of time to do this as she will not be back from holidays for a fortnight but I would lie to go in prepared when she gets back.

Thanks Brian I will as soon as I can go take a look as the machine is in situ and I might even see if I can get it back home - easier to work as there is so much to get right on this one.

We found the original problem and that was s low internet speed and it turned out that her grandkids had used all her monthly allowance playing games so I think she is going to have to put her foot down. I also reckon these errrrr nice kids have also downloaded a lot of that software that promises to clean the machine etc etc ad nauesum

Here's several different and supposedly positive ways to remove KNCTR:

SUCCESS IN REMOVING KNCTR. YES!! Down on the right corner of your desktop near the digital clock should be a drop-down arrow. Click it and you'll see the 'knctr icon'. Click the icon and then click 'Shutdown'. Then go to your control panel and 'Uninstall' that program.

Here's how to remove KNTCR, first, press CTRL, ALT, DELETE on your keyboard. After task manager comes up, go to processes and find ITIBITI or something like that. Click and end process. Then, go to Control panel, add or remove programs and uninstall KNTCR

    Go into C:\
open the folder 'Program Files (x86)'
open the folder, "itibiti soft phone"
there will be a few icons, one is called "RTCSetupPackage"
Run that file. it will be a setup wizard, and on the first screen should be an option to either repair or remove the program. Remove it.

    Hope this helps!

Yep I did Google those and tried the fix yesterday while I was there but there was no reference to the darn thing in the system tray.

The problem is when the machine has been going for some time there are two pop ups one I can't remember but this KNCTR pops up a fair time after the machine has been going. For example I installed CCleaner and ran that and even after it had finished this large purple window pops up.

Now I didn't get much time with the computer yesterday and I should have thought about the uninstaller on CC but I think I might go get the machine while the lady is away on holidays as her husband I don't think uses it as doing it like this is better done with it here I suppose and I can slip some more RAM in too.

Sorry late reply yep I think you might be right Colin I shall just have to wait for her to get back from Thailand as she has that many photos and stuff on the thing and also someone one talked her into suing Safari and it really isn't my cup of tea to be honest.
Plus I see there are at least two other browsers so heaven knows what those kids did. L
Luckily I have some spare DDR2 RAM that I can slip in too as I think the prebuilt was an extremely cheaply made up one.
