I tried seeing what happens in the event view, but I also get an error there say "MMC could not create the snap-in"

I'm having this exact same problem. Both programs give the same "CLR20r3" error for program event name, and "mscorlib" as program signature 4.
I also get the ""MMC could not create the snap-in" thing with event viewer. I haven't tried the CMD stuff suggestion in the second post or tried uninstalling and reinstalling Net Framework 2, however.

One of the programs WAS working yesterday, however this morning I had issues which caused me to have to do a system restore from before the Windows Update I just installed yesterday -- I have yet to redo the update however. I do wonder if it's related somehow.

I already tried that...I read it in another forum. didn't work. I thought it had something to do with the .net framework or something, but I've already updated that.

Didn't work for me either. Gave me a bunch of failure messages when I ran it.

I got the best results by following this How to repair the .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0 on Windows Vista - Aaron Stebner's WebLog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

In my case I new it was a problem with the .net framework because my Visual Studio wasn't even working right anymore.

I'm having a very similar problem, CLR20r3 error when running various programs, but my Problem Signature 09 is "System.IO.FileLoadException". Anywho, I've tried everything in this thread as well as this thread with no luck. I made another thread about it because I apparently fail a searching and didn't find this one until it was pointed out to me.

    Anyways...

I just tried this, and it gave me 4 failures. This is what it gave me:
