    Nitro Pro version 8 64bit

I have been using the 32bit version for years, great PDF creation program. Bought a new computer and the 64bit version will NOT install Error message says the program does not have enough rights. Installed using admin ac and ran as administrator. I have read elsewhere that Win 7 has these issues and have tried several suggested fixes. So far no luck. Anyone else please know a cure for error 108 please???

Try running the 32 bit version, I have w7 64 bit and I use the Foxit free PDF program and it is 32 bit. Runs fine on 64 bit w7. w7 is still the best OS, why do you think MS did something to it?

I was going to test Nitro but they want some personal info just to try it, so it's not a "free" trial.

    Thank you

I tried d/l the 32bit version but the nitro site being 'ever so helpful' knew I was on a 64 bit PC and wouldn't let me. I had a look at Foxit and it does everything that Nitro does so good idea to start using that instead. I had a thought, there is a v9 of nitro out and wondered if having installed a trial of that v8 might just install. I will try this and if it fails it white flag time and d/l Foxit. Again thanks for the help.

    Hello Palbus,
I don't want to hijack your thread, but as a long time user of Foxit I'm really questioning continuing using it ...
You can read my thread looking for something else here:

It's the Pro version I used on my 32bit system and I paid 80 odd quid for it. The 64 bit version worked on my work computer (retired now) but will not even install on my new 64bit home desktop.

The equivalent Foxit version that does the same functions as Nitro Pro and would cost me $99 to keep it. I have installed it and it is really good. But do I wave goodbye to my Nitro license that cost me a lot of money plus pay for a license for Foxit. OR can someone tell me what is wrong with my new Win 7 PC???

Nitro version 9 failed to install. <sigh> Foxit however installed and runs very well. $89 though, but probably well worth it as no agro. I believe that MS office uses the same license checking software and I had problems installing that as well, though in the end the best man won and Office 2010 now works fine.

In my experience each vendor may have specific "rules" in their software EULA ...
Have you asked Nitro about this issue ?
Maybe you can transfer a license to your new PC, maybe you can't ...

With the programs I have now, if I get a new PC, I know:
    - Some licenses are transferable to the new PC
    - Some licenses are transferable to the new PC if I uninstall/un-register my current PC license
    - Some licenses are not transferable (I lose )

If I can't legally install and transfer my software/license to a new PC when I believe I should be able to, I'd contact the Vendor, in your case Nitro ...

Have you taken a look at PDF XChange Editor?
Tracker Software Products :: PDF Creation Software, Free PDF Editor, FREE OCR, Voted Best PDF Reader !

It's free for personal use. I believe Gizmo chose it as best free PDF reader/editor. I'm running the 64 bit version on W8.

Another thing you might try for install is "taking ownership" of the Program Files trees:

Some good thoughts here. As for Office I contacted Microsoft and they told me that if I had uninstalled off my old machine that was okay and as I had I could install Office on my new PC. I have tried to contact Nitro without much luck as when I attached a screenshot of the error The email program froze <sigh> will try again tomorrow. Nitro v9 was just a trial and should have installed and given 30 free days, never got past the install stage Error 108 program hasn't enough rights ...... the plot as the say thickens

I tried the take ownership line and nothing changed. I am trying sysinternals AccessENU at the moment and hope that this might give me a clue to what is wrong.

PDF Xchange editor I will d/l tomorrow and give it a whirl, thanks for your help I am milesbehind but catching up catching up a bit
