new versions of simple winpe maker

I have an ASUS N550JV and I'm trying to do a factory reset. I have downloaded your little program and used it to make a USB, where I have also put my install.swm in sources. Now I need to boot from the USB, but I have no idea how?

You stated in the other thread: "Boot it up and you will get a menu. To install from .swm files, click the SWMINSTALL button on the menu. Browse to the Install.swm file. You will want to select the image called Push Button Reset or similar, it is probably image 2."

But how exactly do I boot it up and get to that menu with those options?

If you used rufus to put the iso onto usb, then you should have a bootable usb stick.

To boot from usb you need to tell your machine to boot from it , instead of the Hard drive.

You can either go into bios and adjust the setiings, or most machines have a very simple way to do it.

Watch when the machine starts up and it will probabaly say pres f2 for setup, and/or press f11 for boot menu, or boot selection, or similar. (Your F numbers might be different).

Press whatever key it tells you for boot menu/selection, and a little menu will pop up letting you choose which device to boot from. Select usb.

I used Rufus. When I choose to boot from the USB, it just enters the Windows Recovery environment. From here, I can't do anything. I have an option in this environment to boot from USB, but if I choose that, the computer just reboots and enters the Windows Recovery Environment again. It's an infinite loop. I have no way to enter the menu that you are mentioning. Do I have other options? Do you need other information?

New version of "Partition Guru" ( v 4.6 ) doesn't seems to be added to the build automatically. The batch file which add programs is looking for folder named "PartitionGuru Free" or "PartitionGuru Pro" in "Program files" folder but the folder name changed with new version. Both "Pro" (unregistered) and "Free" are basically same (same installer) and the folder name will be just "PartitionGuru" - no "Free" or "Pro" suffixes.

Meantime, you can add it to the batch yourself easily enough. One of the advantages of using batches, plenty of people can customise to their own needs.

I have had requests ( from elsewhere ) to get it run on XP. Will give it a go. Pe download will be required, but that is not difficult. I think I had already put some code in the previous version as a start towards that.

New version can be run from Vista up, either 32 or 64. (you may be bale to run it on XP also, haven't tested that ).

Most will be using on 7 or newer, so all you need to do is rt click and run as admin on the .cmd file.

It can use pe2, pe3,pe3.1,pe4,pe5,pe5.1, either bit version, any language.


It will ask for a small d/l of recuva and tools, only 8-12mb depending on bit version and os .


(If you are running it on anything earlier than 7, you don't have bootable wim on your HD already, so it will d/l that for you as well ).


[ NOTE: If you like, you can run the GEEKS -ONLY.CMD and d/l a selection of different pe wims. If you have d/led any of those, it will offer to use them. Might be useful if you are running 64 bit, but want winpe with 32 bit programs.]

previously I used the PEALLv12x64.zip release. After unzipping and running the cmd, I just copied the contents of the ISO folder to a Fat32 formatted USB and mu UEFI BIOS would regocnize the USB stick and it went fine.

However with the latest release I just can't get it to work;
-Upon a reboot my Win 8.1 64bit (after selecting ofcourse the correct UEFI USB device) ends up in the Recovery mode with the notification: Your PC needs to be repaired Error code 0xC000000F

- I examined the difference between the PEALLv12 ISO folder with the latest release and I noticed that in the PEALLv12 ISO the *.wim in the "sources"folder is called "BOOTX64.wim"
- however in the latest release the ISO has the "sources"folder with a 8.1x64WinRE.wim

- I thought that it maybe needed to be renamed to BOOTX64.wim, but that didn't work either.

So no matter what I try, the USB doesn't start as expected. Could it be that the script points to a wrong file (name?)

I ran v16 on Windows 8.0 to cd and it booted fine. My winre is gone because I recently resized my recovery partition. Can I put this Simple pe on my recovery part. and register it with reagentc to have it tied to win 8 (access through PC settings, etc.) in place of original winre?
