Yes it did download winpe (for win 8.1) as I ran v16 after I resized/reformatted recovery partition so original winre was gone.

edit: When I ran my simple pe, it dod not have any win 8 menu items, only your menu. Does simple pe created from winre.wim include win 8 items?

Yes, if it is made from winre.wim, it includes windows own recovery options.

If you want to include Windows Defender Online , you can get it from here first: ( for 64 bit wims only, because 32 bit will use ESET ). New 2014 Windows Defender version from MS, runs in vista/7/8/8.1/8.1.1 winre.wim/boot.wim.

should i un-hide the recovery partition to look for winre.wim in it first, sir?

Yes, if you hid it, then unhide it.

EDIT: I removed the false bug report, it was down to user error (ie me) I was expecting it to prompt me for stuff... Its working great now with what I want on it, you really don't need anything else for windows recovery and other tasks if you got this in x86 and x64 on a multiboot USB stick ! thanks
