Photoshop CS4 - "has stopped working"

Hi, I recently upgraded my PC from Vista to Windows 7.

The update took a while, but so far it has been well worth it. Photoshop worked just fine on Vista when I used it, and so far it has worked perfectly fine on 7. On the other hand, I am stuck in a spot where I keep crashing it and have not found a work around. Now I am wondering if this is related to Windows 7 or something just specific to Photoshop(I have never got it to crash before).

I am a student taking a Photoshop class, so this isn't some hardcore project or anything. I am following a lesson straight out of Adobe's Photoshop CS4 Classroom in a book, book....

Specifically the lesson 9, where we take a smart object, rasterize it, then apply it to a vanishing point filter. It is on this step where I drag a flat image and Photoshop converts it to appear like it belongs on a box, that Photoshop freezes, and windows makes it close down with no other option.

I know I put some technical stuff about photoshop here and this is a windows forum. I just thought maybe someone here would be knowledgeable on both subjects.

If anyone has some suggestions on ways to fix this please let me know. I know I could just stop doing it, but maybe there are other people who reproduce this error or something.

    Thanks, Nick

Hello Nick, and welcome to the forums.

I'm not liking the sounds of the upgrade, possibly remnants of Vista having an effect on your system, but can not be definite on that.

    Have you tried reinstalling Photoshop?
