"File not found" when launching an executable

    "File not found" when launching an executable


    If I launch an executable file on my system (it doesn't matter if it is on a DVD or on my HDD) it prompts the "File not found." error, but when I rename it, it works like a charm.
    For instance I had to unpack the Origin's installer and launch the exe within to install the client because it didnt launch otherwise.

    Sad times, I tried chkdsk, checked with HDD sentinel and didnt find anything wrong.

    Any ideas? Maybe a Windows service has been disabled or just decided to go to a vacation.

    It might have something to do with permissions

I have had this problem for nearly a year now. I currently have about five files on my desktop that when ever I try to remove I receive the error; ----- Item Not Found Could not find this item This is no longer located in C:\Users\\Desktop. Verify the items location then try again. -----
