I have been having this problem for a week, everytime I open Windows Media Player Windows Installer pops up and I don't know why it is doing this for, I have not made any recent changes to my computer recently or to Windows Media Player
it says preparing to install for a few seconds and then goes away and it only does it on start up

Did you install any new software around the time this started to occur?
Can you attach your startup entries using msconfig?

Looks like your file associations got messed up. They are easy to restore.

I've seen this usually associated with Roxio programs. Do you have Roxio, or did you have Roxio? You might make sure Windows Installer logging is enabled, and see if you can find what is trying to install next time you can create the problem.
