It seems to have something to do with the .NET Framework, which I already tried re-installing, but with no success. Googling about, there is very little information about this error and those I have found to have the same problem as mine did not have answers.

Hoping Se7enForums can fix it. Thanks!

I have run sfc /scannow (no errors), but not in safe mode. I will try that as well and post results. Thanks.

I encountered that link in MSDN, too bad I wasn't able to find anything related to the error in their forums.

Ran sfc /scannow in Safe Mode w/ Command Prompt. Returned no errors.

Anything else? This issue is really baffling me.

Kathy how about the chkdsk as mentioned in post #2

Now as there was some discussion re updates too what about a system restore too to before the problem started??

Right now I shall be offline for about two hours if I don't reply before then. Try the chkdsk in the meantime with those options it mentions.

    Hi ICit2lol,

To check first, I ran the scan-only method for Scandisk (via Properties -> Tools) and unticked the 2 Check disk options. It returned a dialog box saying:

"No problems were found on the device or disk. It is ready to use."

Do I still need to proceed with fixing the errors or is that futile?

Actually Kathy I prefer the Option 2 method of running the chkdsk it is more exact in my mind and you can include instructions to fix problems with those switches it mentions in the tutorial
    Disk Check

All you need to do is follow the tutorial. In my pic is how I do it on my machine and if you are the only user then you should have admin rights - if you are not the only user make sure you are listed as the administrator. If you have any doubts about doing it then post into that tutorial Brink will alway help if you are not sure.

NB Your command prompt window will probably be in black and white I just find blue and white easier on the eye:)

Well to be honest I would for starters Kathy if you are not real sure of just how it is going to be.
