Complicated task with reading web page

This is pretty complicated and I doubt anyone would have a solution, but hey, why not try?
I have a friend that I like to play on a Minecraft server with. He is not allowed to use Skype or anything like it. This website: [Link] has a list of players on the server. Could I somehow have a program that will routinely either
    A) Check the website and search for his name in the player list, or
    B) Get the list of players the same way the website does (however that is)
and then check for his name, and if it shows up, give me a popup notification or sound or something? Would be greatly appreciated!

Not an answer to your question, but can't he email you when he is on? You can install an email notifier so you know when an email comes in. Howard email notifier works good for me.

A program (or script) that checks a website over and over could get your IP banned. You need to be careful to not pull the info too often. I've written a script for you and it has code to keep it from pulling the info too often or for too long (in case you forget and leave the script running).

I would rather not post the code here in public, so I've sent you a PM.

You can use the link in the upper left corner of this web page to get to the PM system...

...but you probably already knew where the PM link was

I like the email idea that A Guy gave.
