Two different type of products. Avast is a full anti-virus and Malwarebytes is a special program to catch things that Avast may miss. Malwarebytes is designed to run WITH other AV programs like Avast, not replace them.

Malwarebytes is pretty good at malware....hence the name. However it is still an excellent program on many other unwanted\malicious programs. Many times I go to it before I even go to my antivirus (because it is small fast and convenient), but the point is the 2 particular programs combined are better. They will catch each others mistakes. Unlike most antivirus they wont conflict by being installed side by side.

On Internet i read that malware includes virus so does this mean i can only use malwarebytes premium for protection?

"malware" and "virus" are not rigidly defined terms.

By some definition, any virus is a form of malware---an application designed to harm your system.

Malwarebytes and "anti-virus" programs may have some degree of overlap, but they have different methods and targets. Malwarebytes is a complement to anti-virus, not a substitute for it.

Addition to the answers posted above: AVAST is a full anti-virus program that runs in your PC's background (which means it runs in real-time), and your PRIMARY protection. MALWAREBYTES is a complementary program for your primary anti-virus which you can run by clicking it (the free Malwarebytes is good enough to protect your PC and to remove malwares), and it does not run in real-time.

If you think your primary anti-virus missed something, then run Malwarebytes.

Actually, my primary anti-virus is Avast! and my on-click scanner is Malwarebytes (Free).
